Have you ever stood in front of a sculpture and wondered how the artist was able to achieve such a striking level of detail, emotion and connection simply by carving away at a hunk of stone? The truth is, like any work of art - it all started with a few simple steps. Research, Conceptualize, Refine.
I approach graphic design the same way. A sculpter doesn't just dive in with a hammer and chisel and expect to create a masterpeice!
The research phase starts with an introductory meeting, followed by a brief survey about your business. I’ll ask questions about your goals, your industry, competitors and any visual inspirations you may already have in mind.
After the survey is completed, I’ll use that info to start my research. I dig into the tone of your brand, your target audience, and what sets your business apart from the competition.
Once I’ve wrapped my head around your business and direction, I take all of my research and start to work out a design concept. This starts with a pen and paper. I’ll sketch very basic ideas for structure and shape. These scribbles lead to digital concepts; this is where I start to make considerations about colour and composition.
The fun part! At this point, I will have nailed down the concept, applied colour, made choices about type for wordmarks and all of the finer details that pertain to the final design. This is the point where I will present the concept to you for your review.
We chat about what works (and maybe what doesn’t) and then I’ll finalize the design and start building out the branding guidelines. At the conclusion of the project, you will receive a handy booklet with all of the details about using your new logo suite!
Don't need a brand new logo? no problem. I offer a "logo refresh" service. This is a great option for businesses that have been around a long time, and already have an established brand. Sometimes it's overkill to reinvent the wheel. I will take your existing logo and revive it!
